The Edwin Jagger manufacturing company, though less than forty years old, has a story centuries in the making. The Sheffield cutlery industry's records begin in 1794 with knife blades forged using power from five of the city's seven rivers. In 1912, Sheffield native Harry Brearley's discovery of Stainless Steel at the Brown Firth Laboratories marked a significant advancement for the industry. Years of experience in the Sheffield cutlery industry inspired Neil Jagger to create the first Edwin Jagger razor in 1988. Increasing demand and customer interest led to the introduction of the company's first shaving brush in 1990, the perfect accompaniment for a handmade razor.
In 1992, Edwin Jagger moved to a dedicated workshop in the Sheffield cutlery quarter, employing artisan craftsmen to assist in production. Inspired by razors of the 1930s, the Chatsworth Collection, the company's longest running range, was introduced in 1996. The new Edwin Jagger factory opened in the heart of Sheffield's historical manufacturing district in 1997. The arrival of new CNC computer-controlled turning machines allowed Edwin Jagger to produce more sleek and modern designs in 2000. The expertly formulated range of soaps and creams, which give skin an incredible post-shave feeling, was introduced in 2007.
The first Edwin Jagger DE safety razor was launched in 2008, with each razor named to honour the release of the company's single blade range. In 2017, Edwin Jagger was appointed as one of only three Gillette Trusted Partners in the world, certifying the parts used are genuine. The 3ONE6 stainless steel razors, crafted in the UK's 'Steel City' and the pinnacle of Edwin Jagger shaving instruments, were introduced in 2019. In 2020, Edwin Jagger replaced animal hair with synthetic fibres in the majority of shaving brushes, offering a sustainable alternative to badger hair.
The Edwin Jagger DES89LBLAMZ is a precision-engineered, premium quality razor. Machined from solid brass, triple-plated and hand-polished, it features an elegant and sophisticated metallic design. The handle is finished with an attractive scratch-resistant lined chrome plating, with 'EDWIN JAGGER' proudly engraved on the collar. With a short 83mm (3.3") overall length and a practical 76mm (3") handle, this classic design offers great manoeuvrability and agility. Weighing 68g (2.4oz), the decently weighted razor provides a reliable shave, allowing the agile head to glide across the face without needing to apply pressure, resulting in fewer cuts, less irritation and a smoother shave.
This razor combines the latest technology and traditional techniques to produce an elegant, professional shaving experience every day. It is suitable for beginners, intermediates and experienced wet-shavers alike, and can be used with all standard DE razor blades (not included).
