In 1945, Otto Johannes Müller founded the MÜHLE business after returning from the war, making the first shaving brushes and designing the MÜHLE signet. Over the following decades, the company grew, with Hans-Jürgen Müller taking over in 1965 and expanding MÜHLE's exports to 36 countries. However, in 1972, the company was expropriated under pressure from the German Democratic Republic, and Hans-Jürgen Müller became a self-employed brush maker.

After German reunification in 1990, Hans-Jürgen Müller regained the family business, trading as Hans-Jürgen Müller KG, and the MÜHLE signet remained. The company struggled to survive, but gradually won new customers and rehired former employees. By the early 2000s, the MÜHLE brand had come to the fore, with the offering expanding to a full range of wet shaving goods.

In 2021, MÜHLE launched the first safety razor designed with the needs of all users in mind, regardless of gender. This marked a significant milestone in the company's 75-year history of designing, developing, and manufacturing the finest quality shaving products from their family-owned premises in historic Saxony, northern Germany.
